Objectives
(A)

S.E.B. will be an autonomous independent body under state department of Education which will conduct examination of

 
1. Pre-training for the job of pre primary school teachers (Pre. - P.T.C.)
2. Primary school teachers in the state. (P.T.C.)
3. Career developing courses Examinations like elementary & Intermediate Drawing Grade.
4. In the field of vocational courses like Diploma in Home Science, in Banking, in Accountancy & in Physiotherapy etc.
5.

Courses in Physical Education like C. P. Ed. & D. P. Ed.

6. Diploma in Basic Education.
7. Departmental Exam to update functioning of Education Deptt.
8. Higher arts Examination to nurture & develop aesthetic sense & value in children.
9. National level tests like RIMC for admission in Defence course & N.T.S.
10. Scholarship Exam for the elementary & secondary level students etc.
11. Sanskrit Pathshala Examinations like prathma, Madhyama, Shastri & Acharya.
12. Conduct of any other exam as decided by Exam. Board or assigned to it by Govt.
(B) S.E.B. will assist & advise the Department of Education, Govt. of Gujarat in the implementation of its policies, in undertaking major programmes in the field of Examination in the whole state.
(C) S.E.B.'s most important function will be to upgrade the standards of examinations. For this purpose S.E.B. will plan, modernise and execute the work detailed as below :
 
1. Computerization of all examinations.
2. Lamination of certificates and marksheets.
3. Bar coding of answer books in order to keep the identity of candidates unknown for evaluators.
4.

To improve conduct of examination from the point of views of secrecy & confidentiality.

5.

To have answer books of all examination assessed through Central Assessment.

6. Computers, Hardware & Soft ware facilities etc.
 

In Pursuance of the above objectives, functions of the S.E.B. shall be as follows :-

 
1.

To Co-operate & collaborate with and also to assist the state education Department, universities and other educational institutions for the furtherance of its objectives.

2. To establish and run in different parts of the state such institutions as may be necessary to realize its objectives.
