Gujarat is being considered ad Industrial developed, wealthy & cultured state, among the developed & progressive state of India. However, in the census 2001, Gujarat is at the 15th rank in the are of literacy and in sphere of women-literacy it is at 21st rank. The difference between literacy rate of male and female is 20%, which is not affordable to ignore it for Government of Gujarat and the people of Gujarat.

Government of Gujarat is determinate out to strengthen the system. Government of Gujarat introducing various scheme & try to bow it in pioneers’, like Primary Education.

The Government of Gujarat has start movement to create awareness about “Girls’ Education” among the community & society in Gujarat. The Hon’ble Chief Minister has decided to celebrate the year 2003 as “100% Enrolment Year” and “Girl Education Year”.

In Gujarat to pay more attention to the Girl’s Education. The Government has implemented various schemes. They are: “Shala Praveshotsav”, “Vidhya Laxmi Yojna”, sanitation facility for Girls, free textbooks etc.

Yet some more efforts seem to be required to reach the decided target in Girls Education. For that the Government of Gujarat is pleased to set up a fund known as “Hon. Chief Minister Kanya Kelavani Nidhi”. By implementing this scheme, it is expected that it will encourage movement towards Girls’ Education.

Objective

• To put extra efforts on girl’s education separate Hon. Chief Minister Kanya Kelavani Nidhi (Girls Education Fund) is built up.

• To make aware society for their girls child Primary Education & to increase people participation & contribution as the social responsibility for the Education of girls.

• Amount of Donation comes from the individual donors, Co-operative institutions, Non-Government institutions, Volunteer Organisation, institutions are being considered in this fund.

• Managed by the Committee, which is précised & organised by Hon. Chief Minister.

Utilisation

• Financial support ill give to uplift of girl’s education.

• Promote for Higher education studies’

• Assist to economical backward girls for her Higher education.

• Increase 100% Retention of Girls in School & Decrease Drop out Rate form the school.

• To promote 100% Enrolment of girls in primary education.

• Quality of Education given to girls by retaining them in school.
