The Evaluation System in Gujarat
The grading system is adopted as an evaluation in standard 1 to 6 in Gujarat

The students are given the grade in place of marks regarding their performance in the examination. There are two kinds of grading: (1) direct grading and (2) Indirect grading.
Direct grading
In the direct grading the students are not given marks at any where in an evaluation during the whole year but they are given the grade directly regarding there performance during the continuous evaluation.
Indirect grading
In the indirect grading the students are not given the grade directly but the marks they obtained in the different subjects in the examination are to be converted in the grades then it award to the students.
Implementation
In standard 1 and 2 the direct grading is implemented where as in standard 3 to 6 the indirect grading is implemented.
In standard 1 and 2 'A'  'B'  'C' grades are followed. The teacher arranges some educational activities for the children and observes their performance to evaluate the students informally. He keeps records in progress card of each student's performance in the activities organised by him during whole year. At the end of the year the teacher decides to give the grades to each students of his class on the bases of records maintained in progress card by him.
