1. DIRECTION AND ADMINISTRATION
1(1) END: 23 STRENGTHENING OF COMMISSIONERATE AND DISTRICT OFFICE
The Commissionerate of schools over sees the administration of over 6000 educational and other institutions of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education. While certain institution are directly managed and controlled by the Commissionerate, others are being funded through it, all recruitment of the Staff, their salaries, allowances and retirement benefits are however being controlled through the Commissionerate directly. It is therefore necessary to strengthen the Commissionerate by providing Fax Machine, Copy Printer, Franking Machine, Water Cooler, etc.

2. SECONDARY EDUCATION
2(1) EDN:26(40) REGULATED GROWTH OF SECONDARY SCHOOL
Regulated growth in the filed of Education is most desired factor for an ideal State. The state should endeavor to see that rural, backward and tribal areas of the state also develop equally like other prosperous areas.
There are 6011 Secondary and Higher Secondary schools in the state run by Government and non-Governmental institutes. The non-Government schools are provided with the salary of the staff and maintenance grant under this scheme.

There are 157 Secondary schools and 79 higher secondary schools run by the state Government, which also cater the need of remote and backward areas of the state where private institution do not venture to go. The scheme provides for the salaries of reaching and non-teaching staff of the Government Secondary/higher secondary schools

2(6) EDN: 32 STATE SCHOLSERSHIP TO TALENTED ST/SC STUDENTS
A scheme is in existence to provide scholarship to the student belonging to SC/ST on the basis of their merits. In each Taluka three scholarship of Rs. 350/-, Rs. 250/-, Rs. 200/- are paid to the students who has passed Std. VII, VIII & IX examination with rank Ist/IInd/ IIIrd at Taluka Level.

2(7) EDN: 33 ASSISTANCE TO SEC.SCHOOL FOR GAMES & SPORTS
The promotion of Sports activities needs to emphasis at school level. The sport authority of Gujarat is entrusted with work of extending assistance to the secondary school for various Games and sports activities, by allocating funds.

2(8) EDN: 34 COMPUTER EDUCATION IN SEC. AND HR. SEC. SCHOOL
In order to keep the pace with the Information and Technology growing to the world, the Government has introduced Computer education in Secondary school from June-98
In current Scheme Government school and school located in Tribal areas are aided with 100 % aid and other non Government grant in aid school are vided with 59 % of total expenditure actually occurred or Rs. 300 lakh which ever is less, which do not may include training of trained instructor of any other allied training facilities.

2(9) EDN: 42 FREE EDUCATION FOR GIRLS
