Smart School


The concept of Smart School project focuses on enhanced interactivity in a classroom using Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) and Multimedia based resources as well as comprehensive development of school in pedagogic and infrastructural context, like availability of proper rooms, network connectivity, security of school premises, maintenance of infrastructure, use of building components in learning, activity based learning etc. Providing for these components will be taken care of in the programme for improvement of educational opportunities and facilities.

The concept of ‘Smart School’ is not only to build ‘Technologically advanced schools’ but also to use the entire environment of learning by integrating the concepts of Pragna - Activity Based Learning (ABL), Computer Aided Learning(CAL) and Building as Learning Aid (BaLA) using the infrastructure of the school in proper manner for teaching-learning process.

Objectives:-

  • To bridge the digital divide of rural and urban region of Gujarat
  • To increase the use of resources of ICT
  • To make easy for teachers to teach with the help of IT resources
  • To provide specially designed, syllabus based e-content that facilitates self-guided learning
  • To focus on enhancing pedagogic tactics

Visions:-

  • Smart Environment: Smart Infrastructure and Maintenance Support
  • Smart Curriculum: ICT platform (std: I-VIII) and Computer Aided Learning (CAL)
  • Smart Management: Administrative Support, School Management Software, Use of Bio-metric, Technical Support and Training to academic staff
  • Smart Monitoring & Evaluation: Real time Monitoring and Third Party Assessment

Methodology:-

  • Criteria for selecting schools are based on Gunotsav grading (‘A+’ & ‘A’ Grade preferred)
  • School should have upper-primary classes
  • Computer Lab in school
  • Pupil Teacher Ratio (PTR) – Student Classroom Ratio (SCR) compatibility as per RTE
  • Less infrastructure gaps preferred

Coverage:


  • 30 Smart Schools have been developed as Smart Schools and further 20 Schools are under development. Each class is equipped with appropriate ICT tools and media to enhance teaching-learning process and make Smart in the true sense.

  • Use of technology by students and staff at schools to enhance learning
